Novice Rider Horse Show Circuit Rules and Regulations
These shows are held in association with:
Teesdale Equestrian * M.C. Equestrian Centre * Paramount Equestrian * Silver Haven Equestrian
These shows are specifically designed for beginning riders who participate within the lesson program at any barn. These riders only ride on average once or twice per week on a lesson horse and do not own their own horse. The barns listed above have come together to design a fun horse show experience so these lesson riders can take part in fair competition.
It is our decision that these riders cannot attend another show where they jump bigger than 2’6”. We are conscious in our decision to look out for the best interests of our lesson horses and not over jump or over use them. Once a rider has jumped bigger than 2’6” they are no longer permitted to return to this Novice Rider Circuit. With the exception of a long hiatus!!
If other riders want to attend that have competed higher than 2’6” they are permitted but only allowed to school “au concours”, at the same entry cost. Again; this is for novice riders – not novice horses. We understand good affordable shows can be hard to come by but this circuit is designed with the riders in mind.
These shows will not include a flat class. None of the courses will be walked. The show ring will be open 50 minutes before the start of the show for schooling. Ribbons will be presented to 8th place at the end of each division.
Our Divisions include three classes; a lower hunter class, a higher hunter class and then a huntseat class. Huntseat is equitation over fences. These classes could involve a turn or a bending line; something a bit more challenging than a straightforward hunter class. Equitation remains our top priority and for that reason prizes, as well as ribbons, will be awarded.
Division A is only for riders 10 years of age or younger, as of January 1st of the year. For example if your rider turns 11 in March, they are actually 10 as of Jan 1 and eligible for this division for the rest of the year.
Division B has 4 classes; 2 x-rail and 2 at 2’0”. You may only enter one huntseat class – so circle the one you wish to compete in. This means you can do two x-rail and one 2’0” class OR one x-rail and two 2’0” classes.
The year will consist of 7 shows. Teesdale Equestrian will hold the final year-end show which will involve a different format. There will be two heights for each division, with special prizes in the final class of each height. We will not be offering any total year-end prizes or championships. Each show is welcome to decide their own prizes and special awards that they may like to offer.
Entries are due the Friday of the week before the show – to your own individual barn instead of the show. This makes it easier for our clients to only worry about paying once and knowing the total cost. Each barn will then forward one payment to the show; this payment must be made by the Tuesday before the show by e-transfer; along with emailing all the entry forms.
If any class has over 25 entries, the class will be split and two sets of ribbons given. If it is a huntseat class the prizes will also be doubled.
These shows will be run under rules similar to Equine Canada.
Thank-you for attending, we hope you have lots of learning along with fun times!!
